The Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court 1 in Lagos State has remanded Emeka Joseph, a 32-year-old resident of Isheri Oshun, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for the alleged brutal battery of his 18-year-old ‘partner’ identified as Ezaka Chisom Prisellia.
Emeka was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on assault causing bodily harm, fighting, and breach of public peace. He was arrested at a hospital in Isolo, where he had taken Chisom to receive emergency medical treatment for injuries sustained during the assault.
The prosecution noted that the incident took place on June 21, 2026, at the couple’s residence on Ayomide Street in Isheri Oshun. Following public outcry, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency intervened to rescue Chisom and place her in a protective shelter, while investigations revealed that the couple’s widely reported marriage was not legally recognized.
The presiding magistrate ordered Joseph remanded in custody and adjourned the matter until August 3 for further hearing.
